In our inaugural issue, we seek to set the foundation for Fault Lines- and what better way to do that than to explore the foundations of our lives? We’re looking for stories of growth, with a focus on how your childhood, whether it’s over or ongoing, has paved your road to today. Stories of trauma and joy alike are welcomed. For this issue we ask the following question: what made you, you?

my childhood coughs blood / and cracks open / my childhood flares / and flickers / and forgets how to speak / my childhood devours me / and spits me out a monster / toothless / and glass-eyed / and coming apart at the seams

part II: decay
i found myself in the closet the other day but she was
two sizes too small and she slipped
through my fingers like grains of sand
is this what growing is supposed to be?

inhale mind exhale heart
inhale heart exhale soul

flay me open
watch me unbecome
i promise i have a heart
i’m just trying to find it.
